“You probably don’t need a magazine to tell you this, but there is no longer a separation between the personal you and the public you. (Google your best friend to see what I mean) You might still believe that you have a few separate identities. Aliases, you think of them as: the Player, the Businessman, the Guy Who Meets Her Parents. But chances are all these separate identities have started to bleed into one another in the so-called virtual world. The you that wears a suit to work and the you that takes pictures with Hooters waitresses: those are the same person now, thanks to your Facebook page, your Blog, your Flickr account. The truth is that person you are in those realms is as real and important to keep an eye on as the person you are when you’re sitting in a job interview. As you upload yourself to a searchable platform, keep this in mind: not everyone - and certainly not your co-workers or your future wife - needs to know everything about you. You can always let someone in on a secret; you can never un-let him in on it.”
