I'm extremely surprised that many other music critics haven't put this connection together. After going through my ipod and checking out my Marvin Gaye discography and listening to his "Here My Dear" album i realized that Kanye's 808's and Heartbreak is the "Here My Dear" of the Hip Hop generation.
The similarities are uncanny.
1. Marvin Gaye just divorced his first wife and was bitter about the whole incident and decided to pen a scathing album of heartbreak and retribution entitled "Here My Dear" as a type of catharsis. Furthermore, his musical muse and frequent collaborator Tammi Terrell had passed on very early in her life a few years earlier which devastated Marvin for years.
2. Kanye West broke up with his long time girlfriend, completely bitter and heartbroken he made an album that teeters between complete anger, hurt and pain and sorrow. Also, his mother died within the same year.
3. Here My Dear was not immediately a hit. Although Marvin was a pop artists his music has touched on social issues as well as political. But, fans where not used to an upset, bitter and completely down temp Marvin Gaye. Meanwhile, critics praised it for its raw honesty and his bravery in stepping out of his comfort zone and making a emotional album. The album eventually sold decently and went on to be a cult favorite of die hard Marvin fans.
4. 808s & Heartbreak is a huge departure from Kanye's other work. Although Kanye is a pop artists his music has touched on social issues as well as political. Blam
Subtract the clothes and we all stand equal, or close to it that is
No need in feelings insecure, but some still do
For we now stand in our rawest form
No materialistic shell to hide under
No such thing as swag
We can now see every little "flaw" in our appearances
For the one(s) who can do this and still feel comfortable,
I give my utmost respect to
Just a lil' something I wrote months ago I decided to post anyway.....

1st time around
Very new to this photography ish. I've done a bit of reading up but lack the hands-on experience. So my brother let me use his old film camera (Canon Rebel k2) and I went out, copped the film, and paid to get them developed. And I am willing to share with you all, the end result.
Enjoy. (ps: yes I know I've got some progress to make but this is my 1st real time around so yeah, observe.) Oh & constructive criticism is appreciated.

I'm not quite sure why or where this random obsession came from but girls with body art and tasteful & different body piercings is sooo dope to me. My interest in gauges started towards the end of the summer time but I neva knew it had the potential to look so appealing on females. And it's so "unlady-like", or so it seems, yet such a turn-on. I don't know if you all think it's weird but here's a few pics from two models I wanna spotlight right now...just to justify my point. Feelin like I should share the wealth.
Enjoy ; )
Female A: Megan Fox(actress/model)

Female B: Adrenalynn (pornographic actress/tatoo artist)

Classy huh?lol. amiright?

Not Easily Broken
Ok, so today was random but eventful at the same time. Mother woke me up, went out to breakfast, went out to the Hoffman, ate at my regular spot (San Antonio Bar & Grill), went to Spencer's shabangbang later that evening.
NOW, the highlight of my day is the movie. I've never noticed the artistry behind movies before, only watched for the entertainment. Well now that I'm this self-proclaimed dilettante and I'm learning how to focus the lens, that was the first thing I noticed in the movie. I found it amazing how well the video recorder focused the lens(es) on the smallest of details. Now the aesthetics came into effect because whichever object the director/producer decided to focus on always paralleled whatever he wanted the audience to pay attention to. Simple concept yet you can infer so much doing exactly this.
But that was something like a technical perspective....
If I were to rate the movie itself out of 10, I'd give it a solid 8.9. It definetely had it's predictable moments but was nothing shy of entertaining IMO. I think the director did an excellent job with casting, and this is probably Taraji P. Henson's best role by far. Her character showed alot of emotion. I'd recommend it, but know it may remind you of a Tyler Perry movie.lol

The Power of an Apology
Dear Anonymous,
Although my mere words cannot mend the mental scars I've inflicted
I offer you my utmost sincere apology
Not for my ignorance
But because I didn't intend on what happened leading this far
Luckily enough, someone good has come your way and you couldn't be happier
And it makes me happy to see that
No hard feelings?
*I have 1-2 people in mind when I typed this but I feel like this could apply to a series of people (*disgruntled face*) so take it however you like if you're reading this and you believe I'm talking to you.
For one individual in particular that claimed to have hated me (lol), it made me happy seeing you smile today when I told you this.

Ok so it's come to my attention that I nod my head hard as hell when i listen to music.lol. Like, I'm sure I look nothing short of the word idiotic but fuck it, that's me. Now, I'm posting this because I find that OD head nodding is by far the best way to enjoy your music. If you're nod an avid head-nodder, TRY IT byattch! lol.

WTFeezy?!?

*scratches head furiously*
I'm not sure whether I should be frustrated at the imbecile that decided to sell this in their store (Macy's) or mad at the brand itself for deciding to follow through with this idiotic idea to blend "streetwear" with professional attire.lol
Either way, the bigger question is when exactly would this piece look good?lol
*edit: ignore the poor pics, but they were taken off my phone

Welp....Happy muthaluvin new Years Folks

08' was great (hey, that rhymed.lol <<<< excuse my wackness) Nah, but really though, I figure it's prolly customary for people to reflect on their year once its approaching its end and make a resolution(s) for the upcoming new year, however I'm not going to do that, but you probably could of guessed that. But I will say that 2008 was pretty action packed year, lol, between my 1.000 gpa, my suspension to the superintendent that led to my expulsion, to being put on house arrest (again...grrr), to vacationing out in the bahamas, to finally attempting to get a grip of my future and banging out that 3.188 gpa (even if just for one quarter), I've had my fair share of emotions.
Now I'm looking forward to 2009 with a positive light. I plan on getting my license by the end of this month, graduating high school, turning 18, and attending college by the fall if everything goes according to plan. I will keep you all updated with the progress on the last thing. This is my year, period.
Pics from last nights party (yes I was smacked, partial explanation for the faces.lol....i was just wildin in general):
